Tito Jackson, (October 15, 1953-September 15, 2024), was an American musician and a member of the Jackson family, a prominent family in the music industry. Tito is best known as a guitarist and a member of the Jackson 5, a Motown group that achieved immense popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Early Life

Tito Jackson was born on 15th October 1953 in Gary, Indiana, U.S. He was the son of Joe Jackson and Katherine Jackson. Tito grew up in a musical household. His father, Joe Jackson, was a manager. He encouraged his children to pursue music. Tito formed the Jackson 5 with his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael. The group gained fame for their energetic performances and catchy hits. Their debut single “I Want You Back” in 1969 was a massive hit, and they went on to release a string of successful songs and albums.
Jackson 5 Era (1960s-1970s)

Formation and Early Success:
- 1969: Tito Jackson, formed the Jackson 5. In the group of Jackson 5 there was his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael. The group was discovered by Motown Records and achieved rapid success with their debut single, “I Want You Back,” which topped the charts.
- 1970-1972: The Jackson 5 released a series of hit singles, including “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” and “I’ll Be There.” Their distinctive sound and energetic performances made them one of the most popular acts of the time.
Touring and Albums:
- The Jackson 5 toured extensively and released numerous albums, including Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5 (1969), ABC (1970), and Third Album (1970). His music of blend of soul, pop, and funk. People appreciated his music.
Solo Career (1970s)

Early Solo Efforts:
- 1978: Tito released his self-titled debut solo album, Tito Jackson. While it did not achieve the same level of success as his work with the Jackson 5, it showcased his talents as a guitarist and vocalist.
- 1980s: Tito’s solo career continued with a focus on both music and live performances. His work during this period included collaborations with other artists and contributions to various projects.
Jacksons and Reunions:
- 1984: Tito participated in the Jacksons’ reunion album Victory, which featured the hit single “State of Shock,” a collaboration with Mick Jagger.
- 1980s-1990s: Tito continued to work with his brothers on various projects and performances, including the 1984 Victory Tour and the 1989 tour for the album 2300 Jackson Street.
Personal Life
Tito was married to Delores “Dee” Jackson, in June 1972. When he was 17 years old. They had three children before their separation. In 1988, Tito Jackson separated from his wife.
Taryll Jackson, their eldest son, born in 1973, is a musician and a member of the group 3T, which also includes his brothers.
Taj Jackson was born in 1973, Taj is also a member of 3T and has worked in music and television.
TJ Jackson their youngest son, born in 1978, is also part of 3T and has been involved in various musical projects and charity work.
Death
On 15th September 2024, Tito Jackson died. At that time his age was 70. The cause of his death is a heart attack.
