Christopher Michael Pratt was born on June 21, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota, to Kathleen Louise “Kathy”, a homemaker, and Daniel Clifton Pratt, a miner. His age is 45. In 2014, his father Daniel died.  Chris spent his childhood in the small town of Lake Stevens, Washington, where his family moved when he was young. Growing up in a modest household, Pratt was no stranger to hard work.

While Pratt was an active and outgoing teenager, he was not always focused on his academic studies. Instead, he spent much of his time playing sports, particularly wrestling and basketball. Pratt’s comedic talents started to show during his teenage years, though it wasn’t clear at the time that acting would become his future. Upon graduating from Lake Stevens High School, Pratt went on to attend community college, but his true passion for acting wasn’t awakened until he found himself in Maui, Hawaii, working at a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant.

The Breakthrough: From Waiter to Actor

Pratt’s breakthrough moment came somewhat by accident when, at the age of 19, he was discovered by actress and director Rae Dawn Chong. While working as a waiter, Pratt was approached by Chong, who was impressed by his sense of humor and charisma. She offered him a small role in a short film called Cursed Part 3, which, while not a major production, gave Pratt the first taste of the acting world.

After returning to the mainland, Pratt decided to pursue a career in acting more seriously. He moved to Los Angeles with little more than a dream and a few connections. However, the early days of his career were far from glamorous. Pratt spent several years taking on bit parts and guest roles in television series. His early credits included appearances on shows like The OC, Everwood, and Parks and Recreation, which would eventually launch him into stardom.

Rise to Fame: Parks and Recreation

While Pratt’s early roles helped establish him in Hollywood, it was his portrayal of Andy Dwyer on the NBC series Parks and Recreation (2009-2015) that truly made him a household name. Initially hired as a recurring character, Pratt’s natural comedic timing and lovable, goofy portrayal of the dim-witted but sweet Andy Dwyer quickly endeared him to viewers. His performance was a perfect mix of charm, humor, and vulnerability, allowing Pratt to shine despite the character’s often bumbling nature.

It was during his time on Parks and Recreation that Pratt’s physical transformation also began. Known for his chubby and goofy persona in the early seasons of the show, Pratt made the conscious decision to get in shape. His transformation would prove to be pivotal in securing some of his later iconic roles.

Pratt’s career took a major leap forward in 2014 when he was cast as Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The film, which was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), became a surprise hit, grossing over $773.3 million worldwide. Pratt’s portrayal of Quill, a space-faring outlaw with a knack for humor and action, cemented his status as a leading man. His chemistry with his co-stars, including Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, and Vin Diesel, added an emotional depth to the film, further showcasing Pratt’s range as an actor.

Following the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt’s star power grew exponentially, and it wasn’t long before he was offered the lead role in another blockbuster franchise: Jurassic World (2015). A reboot of the Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World became one of the highest-grossing films of all time, grossing over $652.3 billion worldwide. In the film, Pratt played Owen Grady, a rugged dinosaur trainer with a special bond with the Velociraptors, further cementing his status as an action star.

The success of these two films catapulted Pratt into the ranks of Hollywood’s most bankable actors. He followed up with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), both of which continued to perform well at the box office.
