She also recorded another album as a member of the duo Texas Two Bits. She appeared in the singing competition in Nashville Star.

In 2012, she signed a hit song “Merry Go Round” with Mercury Nashville. At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, she won the Grammy Award for Best Country  Album. Her second album was Pageant Material in 2015. In 2016, Kacey Musgraves also released a Christmas-themed album named “A Very Kecay Christmas”. In 2018, her fourth studio album “Golden Hour” was released.

Her two albums “Space Cowboy” and “Butterflies” won the Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and also Best Country Solo Performance. In 2021 her fifth album was released which was her fourth top-ten album named Star-Crossed. Her Sixth album was “Deeper Well” which came out in early 2024.

Throughout her career, Musgraves won a total of seventeen Awards. Seven Grammy Awards, seven Country Music Association Awards, and three Academy of Country Music Awards.

Kacey Musgraves’s Early Life

Kacey Musgraves was born on August 21, 1988, in Golden Taxes. Her full name is Kacey Lee Musgraves. She was the daughter of Mrs. Karen and Mr. Craig Musgraves. Her mother Karen is an artist. In Mineola, Texas her father Craig owns a small printing business, M-Prints Printing, Inc. Musgrave has a younger sister who is a photographer

At the age of eight Musgrave started writing songs. When she was in her elementary school graduation she wrote her first song “Notice Me”. In the beginning, she learned to play music on the mandolin. After that at the age of 12, she started taking guitar lessons from a local musician named John DeFoore. She not only learned guitar but also learned harmonica.

Musgraves mother Karen took her to music festivals to sing western swing music. Released her first independent album in 2000. Musgrave won the Yodeling National Championships. Musgrave got selected to sing the national anthem at the 2002 Winter Olympics. When she was 14, her family funded money for her first solo, self-released album.

In 2006 she graduated from Mineola High School and then moved to Austin, Texas at the age of 18. In 2007, she competed in Season 5 of the Reality TV series Nashville Star Singing competition. In this competition she placed seventh. After this competition, she took various jobs, including performing as Hannah Montana for children’s birthday parties.

Musgrave recorded her three self-produced songs in 2002, 2023, and 2007. When she was living in Austin in 2008. Then in 2010, she collaborated with Josh Abbott Band for the song “Oh, Tonight”. In 2012, she signed with Mercury Nashville for her solo debut single “Merry Go Round”. Musgrave also produced and co-written her major debut album “Same Trailer Different Park”. 42,000 copies were sold of this album.

Musgrave produced many other hit singles “Blowin’ Smoke”, and  “Follow Your Arrow”. Rolling Stone magazine listed the song “Follow Your Arrow” at number 39 on the list of 100 Greatest Country Songs. In June 2014, her new song was released named The Trailer Song. In August 2014 Same Trailer Different Park was certified gold 500,000 copies were sold the song “Follow Your Arrow” was certified gold and “Merry Go Round” was certified platinum.

Musgrave second studio album was released on 23rd June 2015 Musgrave performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She also featured on a remix of Miguel’s single ” Waves ” which was released in February 2016. Out of 30 country music artists Musgrave was selected to perform on Forever Country a mash-up track of Take Me Home Country Roads, The Road Again, and I Will Always Love You.

On May 29 2020 Musgrave was featured on The Flaming Lips and also provided vocals on two additional tracks on their album American Head. Which was released on September 11, 2022.

Then Musgrave collaborated with American star Zach Bryan on the single ‘I Remember Everything” from his self-studio album. On October 6, 2023, she collaborated with artist Noah Kahan on a re-released version of Kahan’s album “Stick”. In February 2024, Musgrave announced her sixth studio album, named Deeper Well. It was released on March 15th, 2024. On the March 2nd episode of Saturday Night Live, she performed two songs from the album.

Musgrave met Ruston Kelly at the Bluebird Caffe, in Nashville. They started dating each other and also had a songwriting date. Musgrave shared that the song “Butterflies” from her album Golden Hour is about their courtship with Ruston Kelly.  She engaged Kelly, on December 24, 2017.

On 14th October, 2017 they got married. Then they filed for divorce in July 2020 and separated in September 2020. From 2021 to 2023, she was in a relationship with poet  Cole Schafer.

From thirteen nominations Musgrave has received seven awards at the Grammy Awards. She got Album of the Year for Golden Hour (2019). For “Merry Go Round” (2014) and “Space Cowboy” (2019) she achieved the Best Country Song Award.
