Kristi Noem First Woman Governor Of South Dakota.

Kristi Noem (born November 30, 1971), is an American politician. She has been working as the 33rd Governor of South Dakota since 2019. Noem is a member of the Republican Party. From 2011 to 2019, she was the U.S. representative of South Dakota. From 2007 to 2011, also a member of the South Dakota House Representatives for the 6th district.

Noem is the first female Governor of South Dakota, who was elected in 2018 as a Governor. During the 2018 election, she was supported by President Donald Trump. She rose to National Prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic because of her refusal issue of wear a face mask.

Kristi Noem was born on 30th November 1971, in Watertown, South Dakota.  Her full name is Kristi Lynn Noem. Neom’s father’s name is Ron Arnold and her mother’s name is Corinne Arnold. She was raised with her siblings on their farm in rural Hamlin County. Neom’s ancestor was Norwegian. In 1990, Neon graduated from Hamlin High School. She was also crowned South Dakota Snow Queen.

Kristi Noem father’s died in 1994 in a farm machinery accident. From 1990 to 1994 she joined Northern State University but didn’t graduate. On April 21, 1994, her daughter Kassidy was born. Noem left college to run the family farm. On the family property, she added a hunting lodge and restaurant. Her siblings support her in expanding her business. She took classes at the Watertown campus and South Dakota State University. In 2012, she completed her BA from SDSU. While serving in Congress.

Election

In 2010, Kristi Noem stood for South Dakota’s at-large seat in the US House of Representatives and she won with a plurality of 42 percent of votes. Her primary opponents supported her in the general election. In 2012, again she was reelected to a second term.

Tenure

In 2011, House Republicans elected 87 new members, and Noem was the second woman member of the House GOP leadership. Noem continued her education through online courses after being elected to Congress. The Washington Post dubbed her Capitol Hill’s “most powerful intern”.From South Dakota in 2012, she earned a B.A. in political science.

She announced the formation of a leadership political action committee named KRISTI PAC, on March 8th, 2011. Lieutenant Governor Steve Kirby is its treasure. In the first quarter of 2011, Kristi Noem was among the top freshman Republicans in PAC. Raising $169,000 from PAC.

Kristi Noem announced that she would run for governor of South Dakota, in 2018. She defeated South Dakota’s, Attorney General Marty Jackley on June 5th, 2018.

On November 12, 2021,  Kristi Noem announced that she was running for reelection as governor. State Representative Steven Haugaard was running in the election against Noem. House Democratic Minority Leader Jamie Smith announced he was seeing the Democratic nomination for governor, on February 1, 2022. Noem defeated Smith and won the election. She set a record for the most votes received by a candidate for  Governor of South Dakota.

On January 5th, 2019, Kristi Noem took the Oath as Governor of South Dakota. She was the first woman who served as a governor in the state of South Dakota.

In 1992, she married Bryon Noem in Watertown, South Dakota. They have three children. In 2011, Noem moved to Washington to take her congressional office. Her family continued to live on a ranch near  Castlewood, South Dakota. Noem is a Protestant. In 2018, her family attended a Foursquare Church in Watertown, South Dakota.

On June 28, 2022, Noem published her autobiography, “Not My First Podeo: Lessons from the Heartland”.
